About Us and our Family

 Hello and a big WELCOME to our site.

Trish and Phill live in Western Australia, about 35 Klm south of Perth UBD, and about 6 Klm from off the coast.  Trish works at an Oil Refinery and Phill works in a Power Plant. The two Plants are next to each other in an Industrial strip that's home to some large Chemical /Refinery Plants.

We have three children, two daughters and a son.  Our oldest daughter Sharon is a nurse and has a 6 year old daughter Ailish.

Our second daughter is a Police Officer and is expecting her first child with husband Shane who is also a Police Officer.

Their child is due whilst we are in the USA so we will be receiving news of the baby's arrival over the Net. Both Trish and Julie (mom to be) were in tears when they realised the expected date was June the 3rd,  whilst we are away AND that's also Trish's birthday.

Our son Phillip is still at home looking after the house for us with his girlfriend Kathryn.

We also have a dog name Frankie that Phill will be worrying about whilst he's off cycling.

After all who's going to throw his ball and sticks for him whilst we are away. Actually the dog is so smart he will probably throw his own sticks and have some child in the neighbourhood chase them for him.

The planning for this trip started about two years prior to the first pedal to turn on US soil occurs. We live in a city ideal for cycling, were public transport is next to zero once your a couple of miles out of town and yet cycling is not too popular. By far the most popular cycles are road racers, we have a lot of budding Lance Armstrong's. 

There are only a few cycle shops that sell Tandems and then only the lower end machines. We struggled to find a tandem on the shop floor that could be modified to meet out requirements. After much searching and phone calls we found out Cannon dale nearly two years prior to "D" for departure date. We had barely had the Tandem in our home a month when Trish had to have an knee operation.  Obviously that took Trish and the Tandem out of active duty for nearly 5 months, recovery was slow but was 100% complete.
